I’ve long been a fan of Google+ and have argued it has tremendous potential in education. Given Google continues to expand the features and has opened for K-12 Google Apps, it is a good time to take a look and consider the possibilities.
This time, it has added communities and what I’d consider another layer that continues to make Google+ a viable next generation learning management system.
Features of a Google+ Community
- discussion board feel with Google+ posting ease and multimedia
- private or public
- multiple categories for organization
- event-based additions
- embedded Hangouts
Creating a Google+ Community
- login to Google+
- click on “community”
- choose Private or Public
- name your community and provide more details
- setup categories
- invite people or circles
