As I read and listen to many topics via social media, I am constantly asking myself is this talk or practice because you can’t lead on ideas alone. Leaders bring ideas to life and challenge the status quo that governs too many organizations.
Sooner or later, the brilliance of speaking, writing, and philosophizing has to move towards action.
Yes, thinking through ideas is critical. Collaborating on how to push and pull colleagues and oneself is important.
But, the point is meaningful, beneficial change not cycles of what my colleagues calls “philosophical waxing”.
This summer I am taking time to review what I’m talking about versus what I’m helping make happen. I’m taking stock of those items that need to move to action or be put aside for another time.
